Flinders Ranges/Melbourne

We stayed in the southern Flinders Ranges, at Mt Remarkable National Park, not far out of Port Augusta. We camped at Mambray Creek Campgrounds for a few days and did a couple of great hikes. No one camped around us, it was just the four of us playing cards, having a few drinks & watching a sky full of stars. We hope to explore a lot more of the Flinders Ranges from mid May.

From Mambray Creek we drove to the Clare Valley. What a beautiful region. A definite must visit, especially those that like fine wines! We camped at Blyth footy ground (just out of the township of Clare) for a couple of nights. Just happened to be footy training night for the locals, but for us we had enjoyed an afternoon at the wineries (Mr Micks & Jeanneret) and a few more drinks back at the van whilst playing cards. We watched training and retrieved a few balls for the players as we were set up not far from the goals!! Whilst cooking dinner Paddy put music on which the players seemed to enjoy! It was good for a laugh.

That was the end of our travels for now with our SA tour guides, Carole and Craig. We have loved exploring their state with them and appreciate their insights and advice on things to see & do.

We went back to their home in Nairne for a day and then flew out from Adelaide to Melbourne to celebrate Tom and Sarah’s engagement. Both of us very excited for this occasion. Sarah had planned for me to go wedding dress shopping with her and her mum, Jen. I am so appreciative to be included in this and of course teared up when she stepped out in the wedding gowns. To be there whilst she decided on her perfect dress was an absolute honour. To see the joy in Sarah’s mum’s face was so wonderful – her only daughter choosing a dress for her wedding day.

Prior to the party we were able to be there for Lachie’s first senior game of footy with Mazenod. The universe looked after us as this was the only weekend we were home and we are so glad we did not miss it. Lach played really well and they had a win! It was great to catch up with my sister Carm and her family and watch her son Jack play too. Jack and Lach may be cousins but they are great mates too and it was fun to watch them play together. We also had the chance to catch up with our many friends at the club. Such a great community.

This set us on a high for the engagement party that night. It was a beautiful celebration of Tom and Sarah’s love for each other surrounded by friends and family. They both make us very proud of who they are and what they have achieved together already. Very excited for our other boys too – Tom has asked Lachie and Josh to be his best men! Now only 11 months to wait until the big day comes around……
